Creep*

2021-…

Reza Negarestani argues that mushroom spore is something that cannot be known whether you breathed it in or not.

This characteristic makes mushrooms ideal agents for populating empty spaces from their point of view. Man’s inattention to the natural Other and the traditional consciousness of separateness allows other forms of life to colonize the human like resource-intensive landscape.

The human body, regarded by the fungoid as a breeding ground, loses its sacredness and ontological exclusivity. Such an act of expansion erodes the hierarchical structures of anthropocentrism and leads to a rethinking of human existence not as atomized and one-sided, but as included in the variety of other existences and capable of dissolving in it.

*An organic, self-expanding substructure for the construction of military and civilian facilities in one of the non-human races in Starcraft.
